Last year when I started my blog, I posted some new years knitting and spinning goals for 2014. Overall I think I was successful in the overall sentiment of the goals. I started this blog in a time where I really needed it, so I am so grateful for everything that has happened this year. I feel like 2014 was the year of healing, and I did indeed do a lot of healing.
As I look back at all of the terrible things I was going through at the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014, I can honestly say that I am grateful that I went through those things and got through them stronger and more knowledgeable. I look forward to growing even more in 2015 and reexamining myself and the work that needs to be done for social equality. I hope that 2015 is the year of love, because I definitely need to learn to examine love more in my daily life, as well as when thinking about activism for social equality. This theme is also partly inspired by the book I received this Christmas, called All About Love: New Visions by bell hooks.
I want to surround myself with love, as well as continue with intentionally knitting and spinning with love and peace in mind. The act of knitting and spinning has so far been a peaceful act for me, and I would like to continue with that mindset.
As for an actual list of goals, I would like to continue with last years goals as well as add a few here:
1. I want to stash down the limited amount of yarn I have. I have bought yarn for specific projects that I want to get to. I also want to get my projects out of hibernation, and reknit some things. At the end of 2015 I want to have knit all of the new yarn that I got in 2014.
2. I want to start an Etsy store and sell some hand knit items. I also want to make a ravelry group, and connect to other knitters online and in person. If possible, I would also love to sell at some craft fairs and go to more knitting fairs. Mostly I just want to make more connections to people who also like to knit, so that we can talk about one of my favorite things.
3. I want to give myself and others the benefit of the doubt. This means that I really want to act in the way that I imagine a good ally and activist should act in regards to being more inclusive and intersectional. I want to try to knit in more ethical ways, and knit in a more generous manner as well.
4. I want to post videos and blog posts more regularly! Perhaps I will change the format, or go outside of knitting a little bit more, but we will see. It seems that a lot of knitters like the weekly podcast format, and I prefer videos that are shorter and similar to the beauty community on youtube’s style of videos. But, I just want to experiment a little and find my own personal style.
